Hello! My name is Jocelyn (Jozi) Compliment. I am a registered and board certified art therapist professionally licensed to provide counseling services in the state of Pennsylvania.
I graduated with a dual master’s degree in Art Therapy and Counseling from Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA. As an art therapist, I understand emotions and experiences can be hard and frightening to express through words. Art therapy can provide a safe outlet to release those feelings while helping you gain insight. My role is to help guide you through your own creativity to understand yourself. No artistic talent or background is necessary.
Throughout my career I have had the opportunity to work with diverse clients, including couples learning to work more effectively together, adults living with mood and psychotic disorders, adults and children who have survived traumatic experiences, people living with depression and anxiety, personality disorders, and those who engage in self-injurious behaviors, to name a few. I have had the opportunity to provide county wide telephone crisis services to those in need as well as working with individuals in a residential setting to help them solve in-the-moment crises.
I have the tools to help you grow. I will work with you using a collaborative approach. Upon our meeting, I will work with you to help identify the best method that will make you comfortable throughout the therapy process. I have an interactive style that is always compassionate and sometimes slightly challenging; giving you the support you need and the motivation to help you move in the direction of health, healing, and growth. In addition to using creative and expressive therapies, I can also work with you on skill building to help cope with life stressors using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) or to help you work through and process traumatic experiences using narrative therapies. I believe we heal when our bodies, minds, and souls are able to work in harmony together. With a holistic approach, I can help you re-integrate these elements to help you feel grounded and whole again.
I trust all humans are naturally resilient, meaning they can bounce back from tough experiences. However, sometimes support from a neutral person can empower you to navigate life’s transitions and adjustments. You have the answers to your concerns inside of you, and sometimes just need a bit of help uncovering them. Thank you in advance for allowing me the opportunity to walk with you on your journey.
